Thomas Dolby - The Sole Inhabitant - 2008

Fue de pleno derecho uno de mis ídolos de la década de los ochenta.Y si sólo hubiera hecho un tema, siendo éste tema "She blinded me with science"(1982), ya sería más que suficiente para tener a éste personaje en altísima estima.Otras excelentes canciones de Thomas Dolby (Londres, 1958) como "Flying north" o "One of our submarines" nos confirman que estamos frente a uno de los grandes nombres de la edad de oro del pop electrónico.

LEIPZIG

Sus álbumes "The Golden Age of Wireless" (1982) y "The Flat Earth"(1984) lo consagraron como un referente dentro del género del synth pop.Sus teclados se hacen oír desde álbumes de diversos artistas, tales como Thompson Twins, Lene Lovich, Deff Leppard, Foreigner; y también lo pudimos ver en el Live Aid integrando la banda de David Bowie, así como en 1990 como parte del elenco del "The Wall" que montó Roger Waters en Berlín, donde Dolby interpretó el papel del "Profesor".
Además ha sido un emprendedor e inventor en el campo de la música y ringtones para telefonía movil.

FLYING NORTH

Tras un largo paréntesis en su carrera artística entonces retorna en 2006 con la gira que resultó en la grabación que nos ocupa.La edición especial de "The sole inhabitant" contiene el cd registrado en un concierto en Chicago, y en el dvd se registra una actuación en Boston. Allí podemos verle, desde luego completamente sólo en escena con sus aparatos, programando patrones rítmicos y disparando sus sonidos sampleados en tiempo real en su ejecución.
