The Very Best of Laura Branigan es una colección de éxitos de la cantante norteamericana Laura Branigan (1957-2004).Se trata de quince de sus temas más populares, entre ellos su versión del hit del italiano Raf, "Self Control" e incluye además un nuevo remix de dicho tema. Cuando yo tenía unos 13 años de edad y ella estaba en su momento de mayor éxito con el álbum "Self control" (1984), Laura era mi más grande amor platónico.Merecía por lo menos un "grandes éxitos" en mi discoteca. The Very Best of Supertramp (Vol.1 y Vol.2) Se trata de sendas recopilaciones en formato cd de la banda británica Supertramp, que abarcan la discografía de estudio desde "Crime of the century"(1974) a "Free as a bird" (1987). "The Very Best of Supertramp" fue publicado en 1990 y "The Very Best of Supertramp 2", dos años después. El diseño de la portada tiene representada la iconografía de los discos de la banda, en pequeñas siluetas, destacando el dibujo central que alude a las portadas de "Breakfast in America", "Crisis? What crisis?" y "Crime of the century".

Como bien saben los seguidores de la banda, Rick Davies y Roger Hodgson firmaban juntos las canciones, pero cada quien asumía la voz principal en las canciones que en realidad había compuesto. De ese modo, la lista de temas en ambos cds sigue un equilibrio entre las canciones de uno y otro, en el período de la formación clásica. En el 1, hay sólo una canción del período posterior a la partida de Hodgson, "Cannonball", perteneciente a "Brother were you bound" (1985).Y en el 2 se incluye "Free as a bird" del álbum homónimo de 1987, segundo álbum de la formación sin Hodgson.
Hay que decir que con éstos dos volúmenes se tienen la mayor parte de la canciones que destacan en los mejores discos de la banda, aunque si se quiere tener todo, lo cual es lo mejor para fans como yo, hay que ir a los álbumes originales y escucharlos uno a uno, tema por tema...todo...todo Supertramp.

"The Alan Parsons Project - The Definitive Collection" es un álbum de dos CDs editado en 1997 que recopila algunos de sus mejores y más conocidos trabajos, abarcando toda la discografía oficial del grupo hasta entonces (desde "Tales..." (1976) a "Gaudí"(1987) ) . Incluye también dos temas del álbum de Alan Parsons (ya sin Eric Woolfson), "Try Anything Once"(1993).Como por entonces Alan aún estaba acompañado básicamente por los músicos del project, un tema está firmado por el guitarrista Ian Bairnson y el otro por Parsons junto a Andrew Powell, responsable de los arreglos orquestales de APP.
En la información de cada tema consta quién es el cantante principal y a qué álbum pertenece.
El arte del libro es también destacable, muy en la onda y a la altura de la imaginería que acompaña los diseños de Pink Floyd y el propio Alan Parsons Project.
Fue una decente adquisición en cd, que atesoré hasta la llegada de la caja en ese formato "The Alan Parsons Project - The complete albums collection", en abril de 2014 (ver entrada aquí), lo cual sí que es una verdadera "colección definitiva" sin discusiones.

The Freddie Mercury Album es un álbum recopilatorio póstumo de Freddie Mercury, lanzado el 16 de noviembre de 1992 por Parlophone. El disco alcanzó el puesto n°4 en el chart británico y permaneció por 14 semanas, alcanzando el status de Disco de Oro en Inglaterra. Está compuesto por 11 canciones solistas de Mercury, recopiladas de toda su carrera como solista entre 1984 - 1988, incluyendo versiones del álbum Mr. Bad Guy especialmente remezcladas para esta edición. Del disco se editaron 2 singles, una reedición de "The Great Pretender" y "Living on My Own" (Radio Mix), este último llegó a ser el primer y único n°1 de Freddie Mercury en su carrera, de manera póstuma. En Estados Unidos y Canadá se editó, días después de este trabajo, un disco llamado The Great Pretender, muy similar, pero con más temas remezclados.
